Annual meeting of the Friends of the San Diego Public Library – please RSVP by       Friday, 5 March

You are all invited to the 42nd (!) Annual Meeting of the Friends of the
San Diego Public Library.  The meeting is planned for the morning of Saturday, March 13, at 10:30; note that the virtual meeting room will be open beginning at 10:00 for registration and check-in.  It will be an excellent opportunity to hear Misty Jones speak about SDPL plans.
How you can help:
    1. Please take a moment to RSVP yourself now and mark your calendar!
    2. Please encourage at least a couple of others from your chapter to do the same.
    3. We would appreciate your help in getting the word out about the meeting to your chapter boards and members.  Please use the “official” invitation so that we can track RSVPs and assure the requisitequorum of Friends’ members.
    4. Please note that for Friends who would like to attend but do not have access to an appropriate device or WiFi, we have arranged for space for members to participate in the meeting in a safe, socially distanced way at 3 libraries geographically dispersed across the City–these will be tentatively Logan Heights, Skyline Hills, and Scripps Ranch (info about this is on the Eventbrite registration form).
Space will be limited, and staff will be on hand to assist throughout.  So, please let any members you’re aware of who might be unable to participate otherwise know about this opportunity.  If they don’t have a way to RSVP and indicate interest in this option via Eventbrite (which is preferred) or email (2nd choice method), they can call the FSDPL office (the phone # is on the official invitation).

Note:

      • The link for the Zoom meeting will be provided several days before the meeting date.
      • Meeting materials, including information about the slate of candidates, will be posted on theFSDPL website soon.

Please RSVP by 5 March using this link to Eventbrite

Library Opens For Limited Indoor Services

The library is now open for limited indoor services, but only at 25 percent capacity.

In-person services won’t be exactly the same as pre-COVID-19 days, however.  You can’t peruse the stacks alone, nor can you use study rooms, labs or any meeting spaces.

The library will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Monday through Saturday. It will close daily between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. for cleaning.

Face masks are required, and you must have your temperature taken upon arrival.

Book Drop Now Open

We are pleased to announce that our exterior Book Drop is open weekdays to accept library materials.  The reopening of our Book Drop is part of our phased approach to continue to provide library services safely to our communities.

WiFi now available

WiFi will be made available for use outside the building.  This is an effort to help bridge the “digital divide” in communities where internet access is less readily available.  Security guards will be used to enforce social distancing and discourage loitering (by those not there for WiFi or book pickup)

We regret to announce the Library programming is canceled until further notice.
