Please see our attached calendar of free events at the Mission Hill-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library. Note that we unexpectedly had to postpone the Poet Laureate event to Monday, April 17, at 6:30 PM.

- Friday, April 7, 2:30 PM: We will show the movie The Big Short on the big screen in the Community Room. Free popcorn will be provided.
- April 10-14: Blackout Poetry. Create your own poem by blacking out words from a page of an old book, magazine, or newspaper. Enter your poem for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate.
- Friday, April 14, 9:30 AM-3:00 PM: The AARP will provide free assistance with tax preparation. Income limit: $80,000/individual or $100,000/family. First come, first served. Masks required.
- Saturday, April 15, 2:30 PM: Olivia Espin from San Diego Oasis will present Joan of Arc: Contradictions of Female Heroism.
- Monday, April 17, 6:30 PM: San Diego’s new Poet Laureate Jason Magabo Perez will discuss his books and share his love of poetry.
- Monday, April 24, 6:30 PM: Rudy Shappee from San Diego Oasis will present The Fall of Saigon and Operation Frequent Wind.
- Saturday, April 29, 2:30 PM: Join host Curran Jeffery for a community poetry reading. Read your own poem or just enjoy listening to others’ poetry. Sponsored by the San Diego Poetry Annual and the Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library.
- Saturday, April 29: Participate in Poem in Your Pocket Day. We will have poems for you to take.

- Saturday, April 8, 1:00 PM: Bring your own basket and come on down to the Mission Hills Library for an Egg Hunt! Treat-filled eggs will be hiding all around the library. How many can you find?
- Friday, April 21, 2:30 PM: We will show the movie Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on the big screen in the Community Room. Free popcorn will be provided.
- Saturday, April 29, 11:30 AM: Create your own vegetable batteries! Sign up on the library’s online calendar or with library staff.
