From our Librarian
You’re invited to attend our November events at the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library (please see attached calendar below). In addition to our normal weekly storytimes, Tinker Tuesdays, etc., we’ll have the following special events:
Adults
-
-
- 11/7 (Mon.), Noon: Focus Group on Telehealth Intervention. Adults are invited to take part in a focus group discussion about potential telehealth substance use treatment and services conducted at public libraries for unstably housed persons using opioids. Participants will receive a $15 gift card.
-
-
-
- 11/19 (Sat.), 2:30 PM: An Afternoon of Language and Laughter with Richard Lederer. Richard Lederer, language columnist and the author of over 50 books, will take you on a joyride through the glories and oddities of our marvelous English language, in which you drive in a parkway and park in a driveway and your nose can run and your feet can smell.
-
-
-
- 11/19 (Sat.), 4:00 PM: Comedy & Open Mic at the Library. Invite your family and friends to join us for an afternoon of laughter and fun! Come to perform or just enjoy the show. All family-friendly performances are welcome, from stand-up comedy to spoken word and poetry. Host Aziza Gaouda has travelled all across the US, from New York to San Diego, sharing her story and making people laugh. If interested in performing, please email agaouda@gmail.com. A sign-up sheet will also be at the door. Due to limited capacity, the open mic will be first come, first served.
-
-
-
- 11/29 (Tues.), Noon: Lunchtime Concert. Join us for a concert by one or more faculty members from Villa Musica, a nonprofit music education organization.
-
Kids

- 11/15 (Tues.), 5:00 PM: Thanksgiving Crafts. For this week’s Tinker Tuesday, kids and adults can make Thanksgiving-themed crafts.
