Please see the attached February calendar of free events at the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library. In addition to our usual storytimes, Tinker Tuesdays, book discussion groups, Dance Pants, LEGO, etc., we’ll have the following special events in February:

- 02/03 (Fri.), 3:30 PM: Movie. In celebration of Black History Month, adults are invited to watch the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing on the big screen in the Community Room. Some content may not be appropriate for children.

- 02/04 (Sat.), 2:30 PM: Presidential Trivia with Richard Lederer. Get ready for Presidents’ Day with author, columnist, and former radio host Richard Lederer. He has written 50 books, including Presidential Trivia (now in its 3rd edition).

- 02/11 (Sat.), 2:30 PM: C’est l’Amour Concert. You’ll feel like you’re in Paris, the City of Love, at this Valentine’s Day concert performed by Adrienne Nims and Mark Danisovszky.

- 02/18 (Sat.), 2:30 PM: Healthy Cooking Class. Learn how to cook healthy foods in this class from the nonprofit Healthy Adventures Foundation.

- 02/25 (Sat.), 10:00 AM: Friends of the Library Meeting. Members of the Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Library or anyone interested in possibly joining the Friends may attend this monthly Board Meeting.

- 02/28 (Tues.), Noon: Lunchtime Concert. Join us for a concert by one or more faculty members from Villa Musica, a nonprofit music education organization.

- 02/07 (Tue.), 5:00 PM: Valentine’s Day Crafts. Kids and adults can prepare for Valentine’s Day by making fun crafts at this Tinker Tuesday event. Make a card or other craft for your special loved one!

- 02/17 (Fri.), 3:30 PM: Movie. In celebration of Black History Month, kids and adults are invited to watch the family-friendly movie Akeelah and the Bee on the big screen in the Community Room. This heart-warming story of an 11-year-old girl living in South Los Angeles who discovers her talent for spelling bees stars Keke Palmer, Laurence Fishburne, and Angela Bassett.
