Family Jazz Concert

Arts for Learning San Diego presents The Rob Thorsen Jazz Quartet’s “Jazz, An American Artform”.  Led by bassist Rob Thorsen, this quartet of well-known musicians leads the audience through a history of jazz music in America highlighting the songs, composers and rhythms that make jazz what it is today. Enjoy New Orleans jazz, swing, bebop, Latin, funk and more.

 

Our Neighborhood Stories: A History of Four Neighborhoods – Hillcrest

The Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Library proudly presents a series of programs highlighting the rich history of the neighborhoods in the Uptown area, in partnership with the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Friends of the Library, and the San Diego History Center. Bring your passion for history and community to these interactive and thought-provoking conversations about our communities.

Hillcrest: Now known for its diversity, its bar scene, and San Diego’s yearly Pride Parade, Hillcrest has seen it all. From chaparral-covered hillsides to booming real estate, from streetcars to social protest, Hillcrest’s history is a colorful and vibrant tale of a neighborhood creating its identity.

Please join us for a Halloween Baby Storytime! Introduce your baby to reading with books, song, rhythms, and finger plays designed especially for Halloween. You’re welcome to bring your baby in costume. Every baby will get a prize!

Hey Teens and Tweens!

Join us for a special Halloween craft and create your very own creepy, scary, or lovely string doll. You will also receive a free copy of the spooky graphic novel called Through the Woods by Emily Carroll.

Día De Los Muertos Craft Time

Tuesday, October 29th 3:30pm

Help us make decorations for our Día de los Muertos Celebration on Nov 2nd! We will be making balloon skulls and tissue paper flowers for our community altar.
