  • From the Librarian

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in the library’s free events! In addition to our regular recurring events (such as book clubs, storytimes, Tinker Tuesday, LEGO, and Dance Pants), we have the following special events planned for October:

Adults

10/2/23 (Monday), 2:00 PM: Brain Health & Dementia. This presentation by the Sharp Neurocognitive Research Center will explore dementia, caregiver burden, current research, and tips on maintaining brain health.

10/2/23 (Monday), 6:30 PM: Banned Books Bingo. It’s Banned Books Week! Love Bingo? Love Books? Play for prizes and learn more about the most frequently challenged books in the United States.

10/6/23 (Friday), 3:30 PM: Friday Flicks. Watch the classic movie To Kill a Mockingbird, which is based on the frequently challenged book by Harper Lee.

10/28/23 (Saturday), 2:30 PM: Bird Migration: Marvels, Myths, & Mysteries. Join Professor Philip Pryde for this fascinating exploration into bird behavior, and be entertained by the marvels of bird migration.

10/31/23 (Tuesday), noon: Concert. One or more faculty members from the nonprofit music education organization Villa Musica will perform.

All Ages

10/14/23 (Saturday), 9:30 AM: Solar Eclipse Viewing. Want to watch the solar eclipse but don’t have the special glasses? We’ll have 50 pairs of glasses to share to watch the eclipse outside the library.

Kids

10/20/23 (Friday), 3:30 PM: Friday Flicks. Celebrate Día de los Muertos a little early by watching the animated movie The Book of Life.

10/23/23 (Monday), 5:00 PM: Pumpkin Decorating. Kids can get ready for Halloween by decorating a pumpkin. Pumpkins and all supplies will be provided.

Space is limited, so please sign up online or with library staff.
